Achieve Your True Weight with Dukan Diet!

Hi all!  Hope you have been having a fabulous day!  I know that My Own Balance is technically not a weight loss blog per se, but I do try to focus on fitness, healthy living and healthy eating.  Inherently I think these topics lend themselves to the topic of weight loss and I know a lot of my readers are interested in learning about healthy living techniques to help them in their own weight loss goals.  Recently the people at Dukan Diets reached out to me about their weight loss coaching and I thought this information might be interesting to some of my readers.*

Dukan Diet is a weight loss plan consisting of 4 phases to help you reach your weight loss goals and keep your True Weight for life. Instead of counting calories, the Dukan diet focuses on eating lean protein (think low carb diet), plentiful amounts of water, daily walking and allows unrestricted amounts of 100 healthy foods.  I like that the diet focuses on eating lean proteins, most of which I already eat anyway, water and vegetables.  Note that there are no fruits on this plan, which for me, would be hard to stick with because I love fruit!

In addition to curbing your appetite with lean proteins, the Dukan Diet also uses Oat Bran to stabilize hunger and reduce cravings in all its phases. Oat bran, which is full of fiber, slows down sugar absorption, helps lower cholesterol, creates a feeling of fullness and absorbs and removes 5 percent of daily calorie intake.

How It Works

Before beginning The Dukan Diet, members calculate their True Weight.  True Weight is a realistic, healthy weight.  True Weight is meant to be an attainable weight that can be reached and maintained for life. Each person’s True Weight is unique and is based on answers to a few short questions.

Once you’ve signed up for coaching, you’re asked to answer 80 questions that personalize your program and give you insight into what triggers your weight loss, weight gain, plateaus and slip-ups.  You then begin the program starting in Phase 1 of the four phases.

The Attack phase is the first step of the Dukan Diet. It is also known as the Pure Protein phase. This sudden change in your eating habits triggers fast and encouraging weight loss, which works to motivate you for the rest of the diet.  The duration of the Dukan Diet Attack phase depends on your age, the weight you need to lose, and the number of diets you have done in the past. The Dukan Diet Attack phase usually lasts from 2 to 5 days.

After completing the Attack Phase you move on to the Cruise Phase until you reach your True Weight goal. During the Cruise phase you can reintroduce some vegetables and other low-carb food as you begin to alternate between Pure Protein days like you have on the Attack Phase and Protein and Vegetables days that are a slightly less restrictive.

Dukan Diet Weight Loss Coaching is the only truly personalized, interactive, daily online weight-loss program. Coaches tailor their approach to each individual’s Dukan Diet profile and lifestyle, which is essential to long-term success.  The program is adjusted daily based on a short report you complete from the previous day.
