Friday’s Food and Fitness: A Little of This and A Little of That
Hi all! Happy Friday! Today I’m guest posting on Melissa@ValentineRD’s Blog!! Melissa is starting her own private nutrition practice and in conjunction with this endeavor, she has started a Friday series called Friday’s Featured Female. So head on over there and see what I had to say!
So for this Friday’s Food and Fitness, I’ve got a little of this and a little of that going on. So buckle up, here we go!
FOOD
Did you all see my groceries from Wednesday’s post? I guess I gave the impression that it was my grocery list. It’s actually a screenshot of my grocery order from this week. I order my groceries online so I have all my receipts online. I wish my grocery list was that organized! They do have a function that allows you to re-order groceries from your previous orders, so I guess in a way it could be considered my list.
So could you tell what I made this week from my receipt? I’ll give you a hint, it rhymes with Philly and contains a bird we are all pretty thankful for.
Yep, turkey chili! I love a great bowl of piping hot, spicy turkey chili. I use fire roasted canned tomatoes, kidney beans, red pepper, jalapenos and lean ground turkey to make my recipe. Yum!
The Hubs came home from Mexico late Wednesday night (or early Thursday morning) so I decided to make one of his favorites for dinner, mini veggie pizzas. Ok, I lied. His favorite is mini pepperoni pizzas but I said no to all the sodium and made him eat veggies instead! The secret is to use naan bread crusts. They are super delicious and the pizza is ready in ten minutes flat. I used mushrooms, onions, garlic, eggplant and zucchini. I like my pizza spicy so I add red pepper flakes. Delicious!
Because this was a busy week, I tried out these skillet meals from Bertolli. They were good and really easy to make. I actually preferred the chicken parm meal (not pictured). I would definitely buy these again for nights when I’m too busy to worry about cooking.
FITNESS
On the fitness menus this week:
– Turbo Fire…after a short hiatus I’m back on these DVDs! Love them. Does anyone else think Chalene Johnson is unbelievably happy and motivating without being annoying? That’s a tough balance to strike!
– Flywheel. This is by far my favorite cycling studio. I love the competition of competing against other riders on the torqboard. And the type-A in me appreciates the fact that I can actually see my torw (resistance) and RPMs on the screen attached to my bike. It really prevent me from slacking off!
These are my stats from last class. Not too bad but not my very best.
– I’ve also been doing the Tone It Up Beach Babe 2 DVD. I’ll have a review for you soon so check back soon!
Readers, tell me about your workouts this week. How do you make your chili? Have you ever ordered your groceries online?
