Gettin Sporty With It
Hey guys! How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? My sister-in-law, Bec, is visiting with us from Australia for the week. We decided to show her a good time Cape Cod style. And I have some exciting news…
I am back on my bike!! Woo hoo! On Thursday my doctor officially declared my elbow healed! It’s going to take awhile getting back to weight bearing exercises like push-ups and downward dog, but my elbow is healed!
So of course the weekend after my elbow is declared healed, I’m back in my bike for a total of 34 miles this weekend (14 on Saturday and 20 on Sunday). We even ride the trail where the incident happened. Luckily there were no falls this time, just incredibly beautiful, crisp weather.
I think the leaves are going to change very soon! What do you think? They are already beginning to turn a little and I think it will be about one more week until we are in full fledged color!
And because I don’t seem to understand the words “ease back into things,” we also kayaked 6k on Saturday. It was absolutely gorgeous! The sun was shining. The sky was blue and the scenery green with hints of red and gold. I wish I had a waterproof camera to catch the views. Amazing.
Can I just say that the summer is gorgeous but the sunsets you get after a clear fall day are unbeatable.
You know what else is unbeatable, this amazing salsa my mother made for dinner. It was so fall and paired perfectly with our salmon. Apples, dried cranberries, red onion and yellow pepper. Even the colors scream fall!!
And because there is no rest for the weary, we got out for an hour of tennis on Sunday. This weather is just so conducive for outside sports. It reminds me of playing fall field hockey in high school.
Being from Australia, Bec eats a lot of great seafood but lobster is pretty expensive. We took her to one of our favorite lunch spots on the water and dined on these babies!
Unfortunately a lot was left behind because there was so much! But the views were amazing!
Weekend verdict: Elbow doesn’t hurt, although it’s a little stuff. The car ride home was very quiet because we were all so tired!
Readers, what did you do this weekend? Do you jump back in after an injury or ease in? Do you try to get outside more during the fall?
