Ola Brazil!

Hey friends!  We’ve had a bit of a whirlwind trip over here!  I’m still a little exhausted and trying to catch up on everything!  My blog feed is out of control! Anywho, back to the fun stuff. The Hubs has had to travel a lot for work the past year and half, which stinks because he usually isn’t home during the week.  And although I much rather have him home, one of the benefits is that I often get a short little trip to make sure he is staying out of mischief check out what he’s been up to.  Last year I spent a weekend in Mexico and this year I got to head down to Brazil!  It was my first time to South America so I was pretty excited!  Unfortunately the weather wasn’t so great.  Weather.com actually said it was supposed to be 30 degrees Celsius, which is about 90 degrees Fahrenheit.  Try 57 degrees and raining!  So I wasn’t exactly prepared in terms of my packing. So note to all you potential Brazil travelers, check the weather and don’t use weather.com!

We visited São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro while we we there. São Paulo is a huge, sprawling city and the epicenter of business, culture and cosmopolitan living in Brazil.  We mostly caught up with people the Hubs knew while we were there.  If you go though, visit this restaurant that has a massive fig tree in the middle!  So cool!

We also saw some cool animals:

Some weird animal!

Rio is much more of a tourist destination.  I recommend taking the sky tram up Sugarloaf mountain for a fantastic view of the city and great views of Christ the Redeemer!  You can also climb up to statue but then you miss out on photographing him from afar!

Copacabana beach is the famed Rio beach and you can easily see why with the tourists and hotels.  I recommend heading a little bit further south to Ipanema beach, which has great waves, nice restaurants and some pretty cool views!

We stayed at the Sheraton LeBlon by Ipanema beach and it was one of the best Sheratons I’ve stayed in. Everything has been totally renovated and there are some great views.  We were overlooking the water and Christ the Redeemer at breakfast!

One place you must go is Copacabana Palace.  We went to Cipranis located in that hotel for dinner one night.  It’s super fancy with impeccable service.  Their pool area looks amazing!

And of course no trip to Rio is complete without a few long walks on the beach so make sure to fit some time in for that!

Overall, it was a bit if a whirlwind and we didn’t luck out with the weather (forecasting 80s and sunny in Rio tomorrow. SMH!).  But it was so fun and great to experience South America!

Finally, I wanted to announce the winner of the Athleta giveaway!  Is it weird I get really excited to find out who it is?  The winner is Holly H.!  Congrats Holly.  I’ve emailed you so check your email!  Thank you to everyone who entered.  You guys are fab!  And you have A LOT of good things going on in your lives judging by your comments!

Readers, are you lucky with the weather when you travel?  Did you have World Cup fever?  Where would you go in South America if you could choose any location?
