My Post-Baby Bucket List

Hey friends!  I know technically you are only pregnant for 40 weeks (which is really ten months, not nine FYI) and it seemed to fly by for me, but at the same time I feel like I was pregnant for the entirety of 2014. While I obviously wouldn’t change a thing, I certainly had to put some goals on the back burner this year and adjust my focus regarding health and wellness.  Well, now that the baby is finally here, I’m excited to start thinking of my goals again.  Usually we all set resolutions and goals in the New Year but this year I wanted to start thinking about the things I want to achieve before the New Year because then I feel like I don’t have to accomplish everything in one year.  So here’s my Post-Baby Bucket List!

1.)  Get back in shape.  This one is kind of a gimme since 1.) there is no way I’m going to let myself stay out of shape and 2.) I am not really out of shape so much as just rebuilding up my strength.  I have a few ideas on how I’m going to get back into fitness, which I’ll be sharing on the blog soon!

2.)  Learn another language.  This was one of my 30 Under 30 goals and it is still something I want to work on.  Even though it is not a fitness goal, I learned recently from Nicole that health has a huge impact on your brain so I figure that this counts.  I’ll let you know how it goes! 🙂

3.)  Try Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga.  I love SUP but I really want to try yoga SUP.  It’s something I’ve been eyeing for awhile and I think it would be so so fun so I’m trying to figure out how to make this happen!

This photo was taken in the Florida Keys.  The hubs surprised me for my 30th bday with a weekend getaway!

4.)  Improve my tennis game.  I am a huge tennis fan and actually played all the way until I was 32 weeks pregnant.  I really want to continue to improve and get better so I can really play a game with other people that are not my husband.

5.)  Take a fitness vacation. I really really really want to go on a cycling tour of Italy.  There is one tour in particular that I’m eyeing.  Of course the logistics of doing this with a baby is really tough so this one may not happen right away but I don’t want to remove it from the list.  It’s always good to have goals!  Moms, any tips for traveling with baby?

6.)  Start teaching again.  I think I’ve mentioned in the past that I used to teach group fitness classes but I don’t anymore.  Once I started law school I didn’t feel like I could really commit the time anymore.  And since I have so much more free time lately (note the extreme sarcasm in my voice), I thought I would try it now.  Seriously though, you know from my videos that I love teaching and helping people and I really want to get back into this.  I’m a certified Zumba instructor and I love barre given my 20 plus years of ballet training so I’m thinking either of those two!

(Sidenote- This photo is enough to get me motivated for number 1 above!)

7.)  Master a new yoga pose.  Now that I’m ditching the prenatal yoga for regular classes, I want to start building back my yoga strength and getting back to a regular practice.  I used to go once a week during my lunch break and it was really great.  I stopped going once I hit my second trimester and switched to prenatal classes.  I want to start rebuilding my strength and I would love to tackle a new pose.  I’m thinking a forearm stand or a side arm balance like this sage visamitra pose.

8.)  Achieve some bloggy goals.  I have a few blog goals that I would love to achieve.  I don’t really want to get into specifics yet but I really want to make them happen so I’m going to try and make a plan to make it happen.  Of course you guys will be the first ones to know!

Readers, do you have any fitness or life goals you want to achieve?  Any suggestions for other things I can add to this list?  Any tips on either of those yoga poses?
