Sweaty Saturday for HealthCorps!

So the past few weekends have been all about exercising for a cause!  First it was Hopewalks, then Pilates for Pink and this weekend it was Sweaty Saturday to benefit HealthCorps.  HealthCorps is a fantastic organization founded by Dr. Oz and his wife, Lisa, to promote healthy living in children and fight childhood obesity.  Fitness studios from around NYC hosted special classes to get the community excited about a day of wellness and portion of the proceeds raised from these classes were donated to HealthCorps.  It was a crazy fun day!

My day started at Flywheel for a 45 minute spin class with Jaimie B.

The energy was super high! (Sorry for the blury photo I was totally exhausted after class when I took it!)  The folks at Flywheel really got into the fun atmosphere of the day!

The top girl and guy on the leaderboard each won prizes and some lucky riders got SweatySaturday bags full of goodies on their bikes!  Vita Coco and Popchips offered their support for the day with free samples for everyone.

The Soft Serve Fruit Co. had a whole froyo bar set up!  Soft Serve Fruit Co. makes its soft serve with three ingredients: real fruit, filtered water and a touch of organic cane sugar.  It is non-fat, gluten-free, dairy-free, cholesterol-free and sodium-free.  One thing it is not free of?  Taste!  I treated myself to some after class and I really enjoyed it!

After Flywheel, I headed to Uplift Studios where the party kept going!

The ladies of Uplift were so nice and the class was so much fun!  I participated in their Gams and Guns class focusing on toning those legs and arms.  I’ll give you guys a full run-down on the studio later this week but let me tell you the music, the people, the goodies-it was all so great!  After class Uplift offered mimosas and bloody marys along with healthy snacks like hummus, carrots and crackers, chickpea salad and fruit cups.  I also had a spicy lemonade from BluePrint Cleanse Juice.  Delish!

I was also a winner of an awesome Sweaty Saturday goody bag!

After all the hard work on my legs and arms, I decided it was time to slow things down at Pure Yoga.

The class with Loren Basset was totally amazing and while it was not easy, I definitely got a great stretch!

After a bit of a break, I headed to Exceed Fitness for a TRX class.  I’ve never done TRX before and I was really excited to try it out.  It didn’t disappoint!  I’ll give you all the info later this week but suffice to say, it was tough and I am really sore today!

In honor of Sweaty Saturday, Exceed offered up some serious competition during its classes!  I even won a t-shirt for the most squat jumps using the TRX-let’s just say that my quads are a little less happy about the squat jumps!  After class we were rewarded with some sangria and healthy snacks.  Plus, the community at Exceed was totally welcoming and encouraging!

After a tough day of sweating for a cause, I was so happy to go home and have a big bowl of spaghetti bolognese!

If you participated in Sweaty Saturday, don’t forget to rate your workouts at FitMapped!  You could win free classes!  Here’s my break down:

Best atmosphere:  Uplift Studios

Most sweat:  Pure Yoga (hot yoga class-literally dripping)

Best competition:  Exceed Fitness

Most cardio and calories:  Flywheel

Readers, do you sweat for a cause?  What do you do and for what cause?  More importantly, why do you do it?
