US Tennis Open 2014

Hey there friends!  How did your first weekend in September go?  Ours was blazing hot!  I know I’m supposed to be getting into the fall mode but it’s just too summery here still!  One of my absolute favorite ways to end the summer is with a trip to the US Tennis Open.  I seriously love tennis, in fact, given how much I love tennis, I really should be better at it.  But I’m not good at everything

Even if you don’t like tennis, the US Open is such an amazing fun time!  The food there is fantastic (I had a grilled veggie sandwich from some organic place…yes, at a sporting event.  And we won’t mention the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream bar).  The drinks are amazing (sadly there was no Moet or fresh mint mojitos with a sugar cane for me this year).  The atmosphere is amazing.  And the sponsors are actually really fun (we had a chance to win at Mercedes Benz and Starwood.  We didn’t win but we did get free parking!).

One of the best things we checked out for the first time this year was the American Express Fan Experience.  We were able to take five shots at a mini net and have our swing evaluated.

My stats were slightly better than the Hubs…I ranked #37 and he ranked #56!

We also got to take this really fun photo where we are supposed to be jumping up and serving.  The Hubs got it right.  I look like a ballerina with a racquet.  Lol!

The full 180 view is really cool!  You can check it out here:.  And of course there is always time for some shenanigans.

Oh and then there was tennis.  Despite it being 90+ degrees in the hot hot sun, we had a great time.  It was definitely a day of upsets.  The first match was Dijokocvic versus Nishikori.  Despite being ranked number 1 and Nishikori being ranked number 10, Nishikori beat Dijokovic to make it to the finals.  The first Asian person to make it to a Grand Slam final!

While my favorite, Roger Federer (ranked number 2), lost to Cilic (ranked number 14)!  Both matches were kind of unbelievable!  But still, good fun!

Readers, what’s your favorite sport to watch live?  Do you spend more time watching a the game or checking out sponsors and food when you go to a sporting match?  If you could have any meal at a sporting match, what would it be?
