Fit and Healthy in NYC: Part 4 {The Shopping}
Visitors come from around the world to shop the famous streets of NYC. However, if you look beyond the likes of Fifth And Madison Avenues and you’ll find some amazing athletic brands offering fashionable fitness clothing while enriching our community. Personally, I’m a huge fan of athletic clothes and I actually end up spending a lot of my discretionary income on yoga pants rather than cute jeans! So join me in staying Fit and Healthy in NYC: Part 4 {The Shopping}! (P.S. If you missed the other parts of this series, catch up with the Food, the Fitness and the Lifestyle!).
1. Athleta– A brand as well known for their function as their fashion. Athleta has made a name for itself by catering to all types of women’s sports from running to yoga to tennis to cardio. The brand has taken in a hugely active role in the community hosting major events like Solstice in Times Square, yoga in Bryant Park, a NY Fashion Week show and the Fitness Biathlon. Regular in-store classes are also popular.
I’ve been coveting these city pants for awhile now!
2. Lululemon– Known for their yoga wear, Lululemon has expanded to running wear and their clothes are as ubiquitous on the NYC fitness scene as billboards in Times Square. With several locations throughout the city, you’re sure to find some colorful and trendy styles if the mood strikes.
My Lulu Scuba hoodie is one of my all time favorite pieces!
3. Sweaty Betty– A relative newcomer on the scene, this London-based brand is known for their ballerina looks and their edge towards high-end fitness fashion. Located in SoHo, their clientele is definitely on trend.
I love the slouchy look of this top:
4. Reebok– With several FitHubs throughout the city and a new one in Union Square, this brand is aimed at serious athletes. And it’s easy to see why, Reebok dresses the likes of CrossFitters, Tara Stiles and Les Mills. One of the few brands that does shoes, they have some great options for all types of workouts. The clothes move beyond your athletic basics and have a nice edge while remaining functional. They also offer free print screening on your clothes so feel free to personalize your items!
This tank is super cute!
And I’m loving the cloud pants!
5. Lole– Standing for Live Out Loud Everday, this brands signature color is a sunshine yellow. Their clothes are simple yet beautifully constructed. The pants are definitely opaque while remaining flattering. The brand sponsors some great events around the city including free workouts on the Hudson at Pier 25 in the summer and yoga at the MoMa.
I’m loving this top:
Readers, what’s your favorite athletic brand? Are you like me and have more workout clothes than regular clothes? What’s one piece of clothing item you can’t live without?
