Friday’s Food & Fitness: Hello 2015!

Hi friends!  How has your week been going?  I have to say that before we had Cooper my husband and I always thought people with babies were crazy when they said they had no time.  I mean babies just sleep all the time, right?  Riiiiiight…  Anyway, getting a blog post done is no easy task but I’m trying to keep up with my regularly scheduled programming here the best I can!

Welcome to Friday’s Food & Fitness–The first Friday of 2015!  I really wanted to start off 2015 with a healthy bang and I don’t think I did too bad this week.

I’m still using Plated for our dinners because quite frankly I don’t have the energy to meal plan, buy all the groceries and then make meals.  Plated has been working really well for us and this week their even doing special menu items from my favorite magazine, Cooking Light!  On the menu:

cod

Lime and Hoisin-Glazed Pacific Cod with Bok Choy Slaw.  It was so colorful and so so good!

Steak Gyros

Steak Gyros.  These were amazing with fresh tzatziki.  I even used my olive oil I brought back from Crete to make the onion and dill salad that went on top!  This one was a fav with the Hubs.

I also made some turkey burgers but didn’t grab a photo.

Fitness was a highlight of the week. I’m baaaaaaaaack! Not only am I back to exercising I’m back to classes, which is so amazing and fun!  On the fitness menu:

barre3 3

A class at barre3.  This was a great way to start out because barre3 is very gentle on the joints and it is really a holistic approach to barre training.

(Old photo but you get the idea!)

A class at Chaise Fitness.  This one was really exciting for me for two reasons.  The first is that I stopped going to these classes when I was pregnant because they are based on pilates and not specific to prenatal so I didn’t think they were appropriate for my preggo belly.  The second is that I was really nervous for the ab work but it went great! I was also really sore the next day from using the bungees .  Loved it!

I managed to squeeze in a full-length PiYo class and 12 minutes of yoga from MyYogaWorks. It was a busy busy day so 12 minutes was all I could get.  The postnatal class was designed specifically for new moms and stretched out all my sore spots.

I also hit up a new mom and baby class this week that I’m really excited to tell you more about soon!  And of course carting the baby around totally counts as a workout.  My shoulder is sore from trying to carry the car seat.  Ouch!

Readers, how was your food and fitness this week?  What’s your favorite magazine?
