A Little of This and A Little of That

Hey there! I had another post planned for today but I decided I wanted to postpone it so we could just catch up. I hope that’s ok with you? Sometimes I feel like I drone on and on about this fitness thing, that wellness thing and it’s good to switch it up and chat about other interesting life facts! So here are a few random things on my mind lately!

a little of this and a little of that

1. Scandal, Grey’s and How to Get Away With Murder. To say that I was excited for these three shows to come back on for the new season last week is an understatement. I prepared the (non-alcoholic) wine and some yummy food and tucked in for a night of TV. I was not disappointed! Grey’s is kind of tough without Christina but I’m liking the new sibling thing. Scandal confused me at first. I thought I had missed something but basically the first episode was kind of catching you up on what was going on in the character’s lives recently. It definitely has promise for some twists and turns this year. Although (SPOILER ALERT!), it was kind of predictable that Olivia was going to come back… How to Get Away with Murder. Ok, I am so excited about this new show. I will ignore the fact that Criminal Law 101 and law school in general is absolutely nothing at all like it is depicted on the show (seriously, you don’t get to murder until the end of the semester and it is incredibly boring learning about the various degrees and punishments and you definitely don’t meet clients or attend trials). Instead I will focus on all the possibilities this show presented in one glorious hour long episode. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

2. Gone Girl. While we are on the entertainment subject, I am so excited for this movie! I loved the book and after finishing it I immediately downloaded Gillian Flynn’s two other novels: Sharp Objects and Dark Places. Her books are seriously disturbing but also have you on the edge of your seat the whole time, which I love. It is a major pet peeve of mine when books don’t catch my interest right away. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Anyway, I’m hoping the movie lives up to the hype and the book. I am even planning on going to the theater to see this one and as a general rule, I’m not a fan of movie theaters (I prefer On Demand at home!).

3. Deliveries. So maybe I just need to get my booty off the couch and into stores but I’m huge and walking up and down the subway stairs is really beginning to do me in, so I’ve been ordering a lot of things online. Well, for some reason, none of these items keep turning up and I’m having all sorts of problems with deliveries. I tried Instacart recently, which is an online grocery retailer. They basically have a person shop for you at your local store and then deliver your groceries. Sounds easy, right? Well, I selected an 8-9pm delivery last week and at about 8:45 I got a text message that said they were running late and to expect the delivery between 9-9:30pm. Ok, not ideal but I can live with this. At 10:10pm my groceries finally arrived. Mind you, this is a weeknight and the groceries contained my dinner ingredients! All I can say is Instacart had an irate, starving and exhausted pregnant woman on their hands to deal with. Oh and the delivery guy couldn’t even be bothered to bring the groceries up to my apartment. Luckily I have some really fantastic doormen who brought them up for me. Lesson learned!

4. Two workout things. First up, as Networkout Chairwoman of Levo League, I must tell you that I’m super excited to announce that THIS SATURDAY, October 4th, we are having an event at barre3 in the West Village. It is a brand new barre studio and it is completely free! It’s going to be amazing! Also, you may remember last year when I did the Athleta Fitness Biathlon? Well, they are hosting the second one in just a few short weeks! I would LOVE to participate again but someone (ahem) is holding me back, so I’m going to have to pass. If you can get tickets, you should! It’s so much fun!

5. Where did you go?  In the past few months I’ve noticed that bloggers I used to read on a regular basis will just all of a sudden stop blogging with no explanation.  It’s like they completely drop off the face of the earth!  I always wonder what happened to them.  Where did you go?  Are you coming back?  I get it, blogging is tough work and the returns aren’t huge.  Sometimes people lose interest or life gets in the way.  But I feel like you let me into your life almost everyday for months and now you are just gone!

Readers, what’s on your mind lately? What have you been watching on TV? Any good book recommendations?
