The Next Fitness Star: Body Burn Series {Giveaway}

Hey there! How is your week going? Hope it is a good one as always! I just got back from Australia and am terribly jet lagged. It is so much harder to travel east than to travel west in my opinion. I had practically no jet lag when we arrived in Australia but have been suffering for days since we got back! I am exhausted all day but can only sleep 3-4 hours at night and then want to sleep all morning long (like until noon!). It’s rough.

Anywho, on to a lighter note… I am super excited to tell you all about The Next Fitness Star: Body Burn Series DVD!  I’m sure a lot of you, like me, read Women’s Health Magazine because it is full of awesome health and fitness information.  If you do, you’ve probably heard of a competition they host called The Next Fitness Star.  Essentially, they search for a real-life person to become the next big thing in fitness.  The 2014 winner, Emily Schromm is a former reality TV star (The Real World DC), full-time personal trainer and CrossFit coach.  She has a killer physique and an empowering attitude that makes you want to workout!

The nice people at Women’s Health sent me a copy of Emily’s DVD to try and out and tell you all about.  And they’re also offering FOUR lucky readers a chance to win a copy of the DVD!  Awesome, I know.

The DVD has three workouts:

  • 25-Minute Body-Weight Bootcamp
  • 20-Minute Flat-Belly Fix
  • 15-Minute Fat Blaster

The Body-Weight Bootcamp offers cardio and strength (yay! I love combining the two) and requires no equipment.  You could totally do this anywhere.  Just bring your laptop and DVD player with you and set up.  Expect to see moves like jumping lunges, jump squats, burpees, squats, lunges and planks.  It’s a serious workout that will get your heart rate up and also help strengthen and tone your body.  The workout is circuit-style with two rounds of each set of exercise.  Emily provides plenty of explanation and demonstration–just like having her as your own trainer.  One of Emily’s workout buddies demos a modification option, so no fear that you won’t be able to complete this workout if you are just starting out or getting back into fitness.

The Flat-Belly Fix is twenty minutes of intense core work.  This workout uses a set of weights.  It is also done circuit style with 2 circuits of three moves.  I love that the workout focuses on the entire core, not just the abs and the moves are beyond the standard crunch.  I get bored easily working my abs but the advanced moves in this DVD really kept me working.

The Flat Blaster is perfect when you are short on time and just need a quick workout.  For this workout you need weights and a box step.  The focus of this workout is getting toned muscles through strength training.  Expect to see moves like deadlifts, pushups, burpees and squats with overhead presses.  The best part about this workout is that even though the focus is on strength, there is definitely a cardio component to this workout so you still get great fat blasting benefits!

I love that all the workouts are short yet effective.  I have such limited time these days with the little one that I need super quick workouts that actually get results.
