Second Trimester Recap

Hi all! Can I complain for like two minutes today?  I’ll admit I’m a pretty active pregnant lady but even I have limits.  What kind of gets on my nerves is the extent other people will ignore the fact that you are preggers.  I mean I take the subway everyday and I have to say about 5% of the time someone offers their seat to me.  And it can be packed on those subways without any place to hold on! The worst offenders are men and middle aged women. It’s always a young boy or a girl about my age.  So weird!

Ok rant over!  On to happier topics like the recap of my second trimester!!  Whoot whoot! I can’t believe  it is over! Where on earth did the time go!?!  Here’s a little rundown on what has been happening.

Baby B is now the size of a rutabaga (whatever that is!) or 2.5 pounds and 14 inches.  This is the earliest that he can survive on his own! 21 to 22 Collage

Weight Gained: No idea!  I asked my doctor not to tell me unless I’m gaining too much or too little.  So far I feel good so that’s what I’m focusing on.

Workouts:  Still going strong although with this big belly it’s beginning to feel a lot tougher to move.  Also, I’ve pretty much taken all jumping out of the equation.  Here’s the list of my favorite prenatal workouts and my favorite prenatal dvds.  I also shared a few favorite prenatal yoga moves and prenatal pilates moves.

Symptoms: Oh my aching back!  My upper back has become so sore lately when I don’t have proper support for it.  This usually happens in restaurants because the backs of the chairs are always too far back from the table for me or sitting on the couch at night if I don’t lean all the way back.  The edema in my feet has gotten a lot better so no more ugly swollen feet.  I feel great most of the time although it has become so much harder to digest food so I feel uncomfortably full and have some indigestion most days.

Food Aversions:  Happy to say that I’ve gotten over my seafood aversion!  For the most part nothing is really grossing me out!

Food Cravings:  This one is so funny to me because people think I’m like a crazy pregnant person that must have all these weird foods. Um, no.  I eat pretty much the same stuff I’ve eaten my whole adult life, I just need to eat more often.  I also really like sweet stuff like ice cream and cookies! 🙂

Maternity Clothes:  All day every day.  I posted about my favorite maternity fashions here.  I’ve been rocking the dresses this summer a lot since they are so comfortable and easy with the big belly.  I also have a second installment of pregnancy fashion coming up very soon that I’m excited about!

Stretch Marks: Nope!

Sleep:  It got so much better the second trimester.  I stopped having nightly insomnia, which was amazing.  I still rarely sleep through the night because I usually have to use the restroom at least once in the middle of the night but luckily I always fall back asleep again.  One time I slept through the entire night and I woke up so amazed!  I was like “oh yeah, I kind of remember what that feels like and it’s awesome!”.  More recently I’ve been tossing and turning I think because my belly is getting bigger and occasionally someone, ahem, gets in my way (ok its not his fault I’m massive and need four pillows surrounding me and take up 100% of the bed).

Gender: It’s a boy!

27 weeks

Kicks: In my last recap I said I was looking forward to the Hubs feeling his first kick, well, not long after that he felt it!  Now the little guys is kicking me all the time.  It’s like he has an opinion on everything.  Actually, it’s been so funny because I can feel him squirm around and change positions.  He seems to love the right side of my body for some weird reason and I’ll get this hard bump to the right of my belly button, which is either his head or his rump, and the left side will look soft and less prominent.  Is it weird to think that’s adorable?

Looking Forward To:  The home stretch baby!  Less than 90 days to go before we get to meet him.  I want to know what he’ll be like and how he’ll look!  Also, my baby shower is coming up and two special guests are attending!  More on that to come!

Baby Items Purchased:  We are starting to get things from our registry (like the stroller) and now I’m freaking out about where to put everything.  I’m thinking one of us has to give up our dresser and I’m thinking I know who that person is (it’s not me)….just kidding!  Sorta…  Also, can we all just stop and ooo and ahh over the most adorable baby uggs ever!?  His little Aussie heritage is already coming out!  These are courtesy of his great-nana all the way in Sydney.  And of course, we’ve gotten so many cute things from the grandparents but I think I’ll recap those in another post!
