Burn Your Turkey Off!

Hey friends!  I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving yesterday!  My philosophy on Thanksgiving is that it is only one day and you should enjoy the day without worrying about the calories.  That being said, if  you are feeling a little bit . .. stuffed, I’ve got a few suggestions for you to get you back on track.

1.  Start off your day off with a healthy breakfast.  Maybe you ate a lot yesterday and aren’t really feeling that hungry for breakfast but starting out with a healthy breakfast will ward off cravings later on in the day and will also help you jump start your metabolism, which may be feeling a little bit sluggish after yesterday’s feast.  Still in the holiday spirit?  Try this Pumpkin Spice Smoothie I adapted from Whole Foods!

3.  Hit the shops.  If Black Friday is on your list of things to do, get out and shop!  But don’t let your credit card do all the working out.  Make sure you are walking as much as possible.  Park far away from the shops, walk around the mall and take the stairs or walk up the escalator rather than just standing or taking the elevator.

4.  Have a healthy lunch.  Leftovers are so tempting and I don’t blame you!  I like to use my leftovers in a healthy panini.  I take some white meat turkey with cranberry sauce and a little bit of stuffing and make a panini out of it.  It’s perfect portion control and gives you the satisfaction of leftovers without the whole second Thanksgiving plate!  Also, don’t be afraid to have some of those leftover brussel sprouts or green beans on the side.

5.  Spend some time with family.  Just do it in an active way!  Go for a family walk, play an active video game like Wii or head outside for some touch football.

With a little bit of focus and planning you can kiss the extra turkey pounds goodbye!
