Friday’s Food & Fitness: The Wait

Hello! So the post I had planned for today didn’t work out.  I had planned to introduce you to the newest little member of our family but . . . he decided not to show.  I’m trying to stay patient but not helping my anxiety is the fact that every.single.person who had a due date around me (and even AFTER me!) have already had their babies.  It’s frustrating to say the least.  I want to meet the little guy!  Plus, I’m crazy and I don’t want his birthday to be too close to Thanksgiving.  More importantly I really really really do not want to be induced. I have a huge fear of Pitocin and do not want to take it at all but it is the only option if you have to be induced.

Food and Fitness CollageI’ve done everything to try and get this kid to want to come out.  I even went to some voodoo shop to get this primrose oil and pregnancy tea, all to no avail.  And did I mention my baby is huge?  Yeah, all those other ladies had nice small 6-7 lb babies.  My baby is definitely going to be over 8 lbs, maybe even 9 lbs.  Pete looked at my belly the other night and said “Holy moly! You are so big baby!  You are bigger than my head!”  Thanks Pete.  Exactly what a woman about to go into labor wants to hear.  Sigh.  All I can do is wait and hope that this extra time means he is going to be extra healthy and a really good sleeper (I think that is the trade off, right?).

I had three delicious meals from Plated this week.  I didn’t bother taking any photos for aforementioned reasons.  However, I have to say that if you are interested in trying one of these meals prep services, you should definitely give Plated a go.  We had Mexican Lasagna (made with crispy tortillas, seasoned ground beef, jalapenos and cheese and layered in a baking pan-SO GOOD!), Caramelized Cauliflower Tagliatelle (an amazing fresh take on pesto with toasted hazelnuts and parsley plus the cauliflower) and Sweet Potato and Spinach Soup with Cheddar Toasts.  Everything tasted great and you’ll just have to trust me that it looked equally as great! 🙂

I did make this smoothie bowl that turned out pretty great.  I wasn’t sure about the whole smoothie in a bowl concept.  I mean how do you eat a smoothie with a spoon?  But I have to say, I’m now a convert.  This pumpkin smoothie bowl was delicious!

I’m still trying to stay active.  Since I’ve been working from home the past two weeks, I take a 10 minute movement break to get myself off the couch and get some blood flowing.  I’ve been alternating between 10 minute barre3 workouts and MyYogaWorks stretch workouts.  I love being able to move just a little bit during the day.

I’ve also been walking a lot because my doctor said it was a good idea.  It is not easy but I’m keeping on keeping on.
